23 March 2019 – A workshop on Referencing Method conducted by Yang Mulia Dr. Norihan Abu Hassan was held today at the Library, UTB. The workshop was especially tailored for the librarians of the University. It was organised by the Centre for Communication, Teaching & Learning (CCTL) as part of the Administrative Staff Development Programme.
The aim of the Administrative Staff Development Programme is to enhance the organisational and communication skills, work effectively in a team and explore self-management technique of those in support positions in office environment in UTB. This workshop is designed to provide guidelines of all the different referencing styles.
In the workshop, resources in a variety of formats were explored, along with the best approaches to support the reference process. The workshop helped participants to learn why and how referencing is used, avoid plagiarism and learn to construct an in-text citation and reference list entry correctly. This will also be a platform for library staff to conduct referencing courses and provide referencing services to the university students.
CCTL is also conducting an-ongoing Faculty Development Programmes for academic staff and Administrative and Development Programmes for the administrative staff. These workshops give an opportunity for UTB academic and administrative staff to discuss the programme outcomes of various field and the teaching and learning strategies as well as administrative enhancement of staff in a University.
