BASIC SIGN LANGUAGE WORKSHOP CLOSING CEREMONY

 

26 October 2019 – The UTB Student Representative Council (MPPUTB) 2019/2020 along with the Campus Lead of School of Applied Sciences and Mathematics held a closing ceremony for the Basic Sign Language Workshop which took place at the Concourse Hall, UTB.

Present as the Guest of Honour was Yang Mulia Dr. Rajul Adli bin Haji Asli, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs. The started with the presentation of token of appreciation to the supporting parties from Pusat Bahagia and Unit Pendidikan Khas (UPK).The Guest of Honour also handed the certificates to the participants who completed the workshop followed by singing of the National Anthem using sign language.

Twenty-two students attended the three-day workshop which started on 23 October 2019 at the Concourse. The workshop was designed to educate the participants on how to use basic sign language as a mean of communication which was trained by professionals from Pusat Bahagia.

The workshop aimed to increase awareness of those who have hearing impairment which is considered a minority. It is hoped that with continuous effort of this workshop would help to decrease the social gap and enhance social inclusion within the society.
