20 May 2019 – THIRTY Postgraduate and Undergraduate students from the UTB School of Business (UTB-SB), School of Computing and Informatics (SCI) and Faculty of Engineering (FEng) underwent a one day trainers training on Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP) Analytic Cloud at SCI Lab of the University.
The training was conducted by Mr. Gabriel Santos Lorenzo, Solutions Advisor – Platform and Analytics of SAP Asia Pte Ltd and Mr. Ilan Asqolani, Senior Project Officer of ASEAN Foundation. The aim of the training was to prepare the trainers to train the undergraduate students for the ADSE Competition 2019 that is currently open for participation until 31 May 2019.
The training for the undergraduate students was conducted on 22 May 2019. About 100 students attended the training and it was conducted at the SCI Labs, 1F.50 and 1F.51.
As part of the competition, the participants were to submit a storyboard that is due on 12 July 2019 and the announcement of the National Finalists – Top 10 per country, will be announced on 5 August 2019. The shortlisted finalists will then compete regionally where the winners will represent their respective country on National level in Bangkok, Thailand in September 2019.
The ASEAN Data Science Explorers (ADSE) is jointly organised by SAP and ASEAN Foundation across all 10 ASEAN member states. It is a regional competition that encourages participants to deliver data-driven insights which highlight issues in ASEAN across six United Nation Sustainable Development Goals. Youths leverage on SAP Analytics Cloud software to derive data-driven insights and innovative solutions for the region’s most pressing societal problems such as youth unemployment, neonatal mortality and waste generation.
